When children build and experiment, they experience the entire process of creating ideas, solving problems, and overcoming obstacles. The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) program helps to shape a positive perception of science and technology for children. We believe that children’s natural curiosity and creativity are critical qualities for envisioning possibilities and developing innovative solutions to challenging technology problems. We therefore strive to strengthen their inherent motivation to learn in new ways.
Independent evaluations of FLL by Brandeis University have shown that children who participate learn critical thinking, time management, collaboration, and how to communicate effectively, all while becoming more self confident.

Here’s what people are saying about FLL:
Parents
“Our older son has always been the average student struggling with math. Since FLL he has made such a dramatic turnaround in school, becoming top in his class…he is motivated; he has grasped and taken ownership of what he was taught in school. Our younger son has always been an A+ student but was getting bored with school. He too now has a way to channel his energy and curiosity, try out new ideas, learn in different ways.”
– Barbara Gomez de Navarro, Mexico
Coaches
“Building a robot is only one of the challenges these kids faced – learning to work as a team is a far greater challenge and something they’ll carry with them into their careers.”
– Mark Niemann-Ross, Oregon, U.S.
Teachers
“Success can come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. I have been teaching for 31 years and this is one of the best programs I have ever seen!”
– David Mills, Technology Education Teacher, Virginia, U.S.
Sponsor- BAE Systems
“Our involvement in FIRST LEGO League is an essential piece of the company’s commitment to the community and education. I believe it is BAE Systems’ role to help develop a passion for science, mathematics, research, and teamwork within students. They are tomorrow’s leaders, scientists, and engineers.”
